Stan’s Cafe is a highly acclaimed theatre company based in the West Midlands that has spent more than 25 years playfully exploring new theatrical ideas and sharing them with audiences around the world. Inspired by the Shropshire Hills they are developing a new performance, set in the distant future, called The Camp, which will help us imagine what it may have been like to inhabit this land in the Iron Age.

A family of time travellers have set up camp…

Daytime parking (10am – 6pm) at Mary Webb School SY5 0TG –

The Camp is high up on a hill, off-line, in the clear air and the cooling breezes. The family have no watches and no plan, they watch clouds move shadows across great swathes of unmapped land. They see the sun set and marvel at the patterns of the stars. Their fire keeps wild animals away through the night and when it’s dawn they welcome the sun again. You are welcome to join The Camp and help as the family gather firewood and water, cook food, invent games and sleep under the stars. They speak English, are friendly and inquisitive. They have plenty of questions about modern life and stories of this place at another time.

Climb the hill and share as much or as little of life in The Camp as you fancy.

Location:  Earl’s Hill, Pontesbury, SY5 0UH
